How to Style a Flannel

Fall is here and I’m as basic as it gets. So yes, I can’t even right now!

With Fall comes some of my favorite things; cooler weather, leggings, scarves, pumpkin spice lattes and FLANNELS!

Flannels are one of the most underrated wardrobe pieces a gal can own. They can be worn on their own, as a second layer or tied around the waist. And believe it or not, you can dress it up too.

I’m going to share with you a few of my favorite ways to style a flannel to take you from Paul Bunyan to flannel-ista!

Rock your flannel with your fave jeans, cardigan and booties for the ultimate Fall look! And make sure to spread joy with fist bumps!

Take your flannel to the office by pairing it with a pencil and some heels.

Yes! You can dress up a flannel. Don your flannel with an A line skirt, heels, a cute bag and a statement necklace to give it a girly touch.

Denim skirts are back in! Combine your flannel with those Hollister skirts we used to rock back in the 2000’s for a fun look.

Its that time of year where you are chilly in the AM but sweating by noon, so why not sport your flannel with some cut off shorts.

Tie your flannel over your dress at the waist for the perfect mix of casual yet girly.

I am all about these button up skirts right now! And this color with a flannel is giving me all the Fall feels.

With Fall comes football season and wearing your flannel over your favorite hoodie is the perfect tailgate look.

A few of my favorite pieces all in one! Rock your flannel under a leather jacket for an edgy look.

Grab your flannel, fave scarf, jeans, booties, a pumpkin spice latte and your girls and do all the Fall things. Go on a wine tour, pumpkin or apple picking, you know all the basic Fall festivities.

Causal Friday at the office just got a lot cooler. Sport your flannel under a blazer with some nice jeans and cute heels.

You really cannot go wrong by pairing anything with black jeans and a denim jacket. Wear all the things with this combo!

I was raised on Led Zeppelin, The Doors and Jimi Hendrix, so this rocker look is giving me life! Grab your husband’s flannel and wear it over a cute graphic tee with some faux leather leggings and heels.

Happy Fall ya’ll! Get your flannels out and rock them in style while doing all things Fall.

Style Tip Saturday: Quick Tip to Declutter Your Closet

This is more of a organizational tip than a style tip but I am sure this will help all the women and mommas out there!

As moms we live in an infinite world of clutter. There are toys, little clothes and shoes galore everywhere. And if you are lucky like me, your husband is a hobby guy and you have various hobby clutter sprinkled around your house.

Clutter is my archnemesis. Its ugly and quite frankly, stresses me the freak out. My closet is my happy space and the one place I have complete and utter control over.

I was sitting in my closet, looking at the overstuffed and unorganized space it had become and decided it was time to do something about it.

When you go into a clothing retail store you will notice all the clothes are hung on similar hangers (instead of the variety of colors and types I had going on). I felt like Ariel. I had white hangers, neon pink hangers, tank top hangers, pant hangers, plastic hangers. You want thingamabobs? I’ve got twenty. Can you tell we have been watching The Little Mermaid this week?

The first thing I did was start researching affordable yet stylish hangers to make my closet feel like I was shopping in a quaint boutique.

I quickly decided on velvet hangers. Not only are they chic but they keep those pesky blouses in place. No more will you knock shirts off their hangers while rummaging through your clothes.

I went to Amazon to find my declutter besties. I am so glad I read the reviews that warned me to stay away from the black velvet hangers. A huge complaint was that the black velvet hangers left behind little hard to remove fuzzies.

I opted for the beige hangers and I absolutely love them! I got the 50 pack but I quickly realized I am going to need a lot more!

Below is the link to the hangers I purchased from Amazon:

I have also come across velvet hangers at TJ Maxx, Ross and Marshalls.

As you can see this simple, quick fix makes a huge difference in the aesthetics of your closet. The hangers make your clothing organization more appealing to the eye and they take up less space. Meaning room for more clothes, girl! YYYAAASSSS!!
