One Woman’s Trash Is Another Woman’s Treasure

I cannot help but think of spring and warmer temps on this cold February day. Which leads me to think about my spring wardrobe and all my unwanted pieces that no longer spark joy for me, haha! There are so many great options for re-selling, up-cycling and donating your unwanted clothing.

And now that we have all watched Marie Kondo’s Tidying Up and you have those bags of non-joy sparking clothes sitting in the corner, its time to do something with them hun.

Donating is a wonderful way to declutter that closet and help those in need all at the same time. Ensure that the items you are donating are still in wearable condition. Girl, no one wants your socks with holes in them. Below are some great establishments and programs that you can donate your unwanted items to:

  • Goodwill
  • Salvation Army
  • Homeless Shelters
  • Domestic Violence Shelters
  • Dress for Success
  • Big Brother/Big Sister programs
  • Community Centers
  • Churches
  • School clothing drive

Not sure what to do with those worn out socks I mentioned above? Don’t throw them in the trash just yet. You can reuse clothing that is in bad shape as cleaning rags, wash cloths, burp cloths, cloth wipes, make up remover wipes, etc. Good for the planet and your wallet 😉

I know we have all spent a little too much on certain pieces and aren’t quite ready to give them up for free. Reselling is a great option to get rid of brand name clothes and accessories that are in good used condition. Below are a few of my favorite places to resell my items.

  • Websites like ThredUp and Poshmark
  • Plato’s Closet
  • Facebook Marketplace (please do not have people meet you at your house! Always meet in a busy public place, people can be cray!)
  • Facebook Buy, Sell, Trade pages (I am on a ton of these from everything such as clothes, bows, baby items to cloth diapers. If you want to sell or buy it, there is a BST page out there for it!

This is by far my favorite option. Host a Wine and Swap party with your girlfriends. Everyone can bring a dish and a bag of unwanted pieces and it is a win win for everyone! You cannot beat girl time mixed with wine, food and clothes.

There are tons of other options besides what I have listed but these are resources I use myself. Now seriously, do something with those bags of clothes.
